Terry Mitchell delivered the message addressing persecution. Those who died in the various wars to keep this country free and those who died because they professed Jesus. The combination of these alone were why America was founded; to worship God freely and keep this a God honoring country. Without those who show a willingness to serve God and country, where would we be? In Hebrews 11:6 it states “without faith, it is impossible to please God”. With faith, we can do anything for God and country. Christians everywhere are in a war with Satan.

Steve opened the business meeting with the reading of the 2022 minutes. Adam Thompson made the motion to accept the minutes as read, without correction. Mike Greer second the motion and the congregation approved.

The congregation reviewed the financial statements. Questions and explanations were provided. Matt Thompson made a motion to approve the financial report and file for audit. Becky Mitchell second and the congregation approved.

Ruth Mosher’s term as secretary has been completed. Becky Mitchell made a motion to re-elect Ruth Mosher for another term. Mike Greer second and the congregation approved.

Wayne Mitchell inquired about the mowing fees. Since the mowing fee did not increase in 2022 to 2023 Adam Thompson made a motion to increase the mowing fee by $25. This would change the current rate of $350 to $375 per mowing. Matt Thompson second and the congregation approved.

It was brought to the floor, Allen Mitchell has suggested a pavilion be erected. This would have a dual purpose: 1) to be a memorial and honor Melissa (Long) Mitchell as well as Donald and Wilma Mitchell and 2) to provide a shelter/shade for in-climate weather as opposed to renting a canopy for graveside services. The suggestion was well receive and verbal support for physical or financial assistance was offered.  Wayne made a motion for the officers to decide details with input from Allen. Adam Thompson second the motion and the congregation approved.

Terry Mitchell purposed to change the meeting time from 1:30 to 2pm. After a brief discussion, Becky Mitchell made a motion to change the meeting time to 2pm and Matt Thompson second. A majority of the congregation approved with one dissenting vote.

Questions were raised regarding the amount of space remaining in the cemetery.  Steve estimated 100-200 spaces remain. Any area reserved must to submitted to Steve Mitchell or Ruth Mosher at which time a suggested donation of $300 be made.

Matt Thompson made a motion to adjourn and Linda Punch second. Motion passed with congregational approval.
