The three monuments that are pictured just inside the gate reflect the heritage of the site. The center one recognizes the role that the founders played in establishing Methodism starting in 1839. The other recognizes the soldiers who are buried here and the third recognizes the contribution of the Mitchell family of ministers and evangelists who led in the settlement of the area.
